Students had to play roles of either father/mother or son/daughter. Three students will be in a group: one mother, one father, and one child (son or daughter). When I call out "Son. Change" (in mandarin), the "son" of the group will need to find another group to be apart of. There's also "Mom. Change," "Everyone. change," etc. When changing, the students will need to communicate with one another to know what role others play to be able to form a new group. This game will allow students to practice these vocab words (which will be on our test Friday).
Activity2:
I wrote several vocab words on the board. Three students will be up at the same time. One person will read the words while the other two will have to tap the word on the board that the first person says. Monday (03/02) :
We completed Lesson 11- 5 Subtracting from a Two-Digit Number worksheet today.
This worksheet required students to "borrow a number from its neighbor." A couple weeks ago, we focused a lot on this concept; however, since we haven't practice with this for some time, some student made mistakes regarding this topic today (exemplified below).
The first picture shows 17-6. When they're not supposed to borrow a number from its neighbor (since 7 can be substracted by 6), some still did it and made that mistakes. (about three students did so). The second picture is 40-3, the student probably used the bottom number (3) to subtract it to (0), using the bigger number to subtract from the smaller one. Another example of this would be 15-6, students sometimes would just take the bigger number to subtract the smaller: 6 to subtract 5 in this case. They would get 11, instead of the supposedly 9 that requires the students to "borrow from a neighbor."
